File includes 2 templates. There are 6 Key Strategic Decisions, this is the last one. The Key Strategic decisions are among the biggest decisions you can make to really move the needle for your company. I consider Corporate Development and enabling decision. For instance, first, you can determine you want to create a new product line or integrate activities that your suppliers do; then you should determine if you do it organically or not. A lot of people think first of M&A but there is a lot of evidence that M&A is, on average, a losing strategy. This is not a form to do financial evaluation of M&A; that should have its own model (also check out form S4A3203). What the Corporate Development form compels you to do is, for each of the other Strategic Decisions, think first of the alternatives and suggests several options for in-house and a look outside, and by the way, M&A is not the only option for non-internal growth. The second form has a SWOT where you’re encouraged to summarize the findings of the process above; the Strategy4Action framework peruses 23+ areas, including Corporate Development. This is the last of the 23 areas.
