S4A2202+ – Key Strategic Decisions: Template for Analyzing Geographical Expansion

File includes 5 templates. There are 6 Key Strategic Decisions, this is the second one.  The Key Strategic decisions are among the biggest decisions you can make to really move the needle for your company. The first form is for evaluating your current geographies and consider both opportunities for improvement and for divestment.  Then it has a P&L format to evaluate the marginal impact of the decisions you are suggesting to see if they make sense. The second for encourages thinking about a geographical progression on two axis: (a) adjacent and non-adjacent areas and (b) transactional and direct investment. All our frameworks try to make sure the Choices you make are really strategic choices, that they are bold and make a difference. The 3rd form makes again use of your best minds to evaluate if these Geography decisions make a difference and make use of the Core Competences that build your Competitive Advantage. The Key Strategic Decisions are usually some of the most impactful so you must evaluate them further.  The 4th form compels you to think further about the Business Model and putting a preliminary P&L together for any New Geography you are considering. The 5th has a SWOT form where you’re encouraged to summarize the findings of the process above; the Strategy4Action framework peruses 23+ areas, including Geographical Expansion.  The Key Strategic Decisions are the last of the 23 areas.
